In times like these, when pretentious blowhards from England are posing as the biggest thing in rock since the discovery of electricity, and we are bombarded with successively more intense barrages of mediocre neo-metal from practically every corner, it's a damn fine thing we have bands like Helldorado.
Helldorado brings back the refreshingly glorious spectacle of a rock'n'roll band equipped with two guitars, bass, drums, vocals, and - not least - a wellspring of melodies to shame even the most gifted songwriters of our times.
After a celebrated EP (featuring a brilliant mix of live and studio material), a subsequent victory lap around Norway, tours on the continent and several jaunts to the UK, their long-awaited full-length debut, "Director's Cut," is finally upon us - and by Speedy Gonzalez's lusty hot jets, what a freaking great record it is! From seductive and splendid ballads that Eugene Edwards will doubtless try to steal royalties from, to thundering, husky rock that can self-confidently stand back to back with the Gun Club's finest moments.
Despite displaying considerable range, the sound remains uniquely Helldorado, an impression which is only strengthened by Dag Vagle's distinctive vocal signature, along with a rhythm section and a back-up guitar whose technical gifts make the highly decorated engineers of NASA look like fumbling stumblebums.
The undersigned has long been of the opinion (and will repeat as necessary) that Helldorado is one of the Motherland's absolute best bands - something I will bellow into the ears of whatever award juries I can get close to, amplified if need be by a turbocharged megaphone the size of a pregnant tuba.
I recommend the album for cultural rehabilitation - give it to people in essential need of basic decent musical taste. Doing this ten times constitutes an act of such fundamental goodness that it entitles you to dedicate the rest of your life to decadence and debauchery without fear of any consequences.

Az indians-t és a caught in a mosh-t nem szeretem, míg a got the time annál inkább bejön, nem beszélve arról, hogy ezt a lemezt - ha jól emlékszem - még egy (nagyon régi) TÜZESVÍZ nevű helyen hallottam először, aztán ittunk, aztán viszont egy asztalon voltam arccal. Az tény, hogy a persistence volt azon Anthrax lemez, amióta nagyjából nem is tudnak hibázni, egyre jobbak, egyre jobbak, egyre jobbak és az egyetlen pozíció, ahol egy Bush nevű ember a helyén van, tanulhatna tőlük bárki.
Szerintem at Anthrax - nak, az Among the Living a korszakalkotó lemeze. Ez a lemezük lett a legsikeresebb, és a legjobb. A turnén készült Hammersmidth-beli koncertfelvétel pedig a heavy, thrash koncertvideók legjobbika.
És, mivel az ún. "lemez"-halmazt ebben a topic-ban is meglehetős engedékenyen határoztam meg, természetesen vannak "lemezek", amik az egészséges derű és az örök fiatalság fontos szempontjából jó, hogy létrejöttek, ilyen a kiváló LIVE IN DEBRECEN is, amellyel a mindigvidám OSSIAN zenekar örökre beírta magát a magyar metal történelemkönyvébe. Előre szóltok, hogy személyes tragédiaként élném meg, ha egy felelőtlen időutazó egyszer visszamenőleg kikapcsolná ott az áramot, így a következő párhuzamos jelen már e felvétel/koncert nélkül maradna.
